ZUGU and Children International: A Community Landmark

Since 2007, our partnership with Children International has created lasting change. With over $1 million in contributions, every ZUGU case sold helps support children in Colombia, providing access to critical resources, education, and professional training. In 2023, we were proud to help reconstruct a community center. Today, we’re celebrating another milestone with this wonderful organization: completing the center’s new outdoor space.

As our company grows, we strive to enrich the lives of those who need it. Our mission to help impoverished communities is a driving purpose behind what we do, with 10% of all our profits going to charity.

The Vision Behind the New Community Space

Running adjacent to the reconstructed Santa Rosa Community Center In Colombia is a brand-new outdoor area for families to enjoy. Finished in 2024, this space fosters connection and provides safe recreational grounds for children and parents. 

This new outdoor space is more than just a playground — it's a sanctuary where families can connect and create lasting memories. We believe in the power of people and the progress and joy that come from safe, accessible community spaces.

Features of the Community Space

We completely re-imagined what the exterior of the community center could provide. While previously exposed to the hot sun, it was unwelcoming and harsh. Now, it’s an inviting area so fun and learning can continue outside, offering:

• Shaded seating areas for families to relax comfortably out of the sun

• Lush greenery, including canopies and soft grounds 

• Open play areas where children can safely explore and play 

• Designated learning spaces fostering creativity and growth

Making a Difference in Colombia

In Colombia, roughly 37% of people live below the poverty line, and unemployment is 10%. Our contributions to Children International help build community centers like the one in Santa Rosa. These centers offer children a place to learn and access vital resources. By encouraging community outreach, children can develop in three key areas.

Education

Children International supports children's education by offering school supplies, scholarships, tutoring, and access to educational resources. They also invest in enhancing school infrastructure and teacher training to ensure a high standard of education. 

Employment 



Children International teaches the skills necessary for a better life through life skills training, vocational programs, and mentorship. Coupled with ZUGUs own individual sponsorships of over 40 children, we want to give young people the best start possible.

Empowerment

Through life skills training, vocational programs, and mentorship, Children International teaches the skills necessary for a better life. In a country where street gangs are normalized, these tools empower children to go in a different direction. 

Children International does incredible things, ensuring children and families across the globe have access to adequate health resources and learning opportunities. By giving children skills and further education that contribute to their communities, they elevate entire generations. 

Looking Ahead: ZUGU’s Commitment

Through our partnership with Children International, we’ve made incredible progress in transforming lives and building stronger communities. Over 1,000 workforce training and education scholarships have been granted, providing young people with opportunities to pursue brighter futures. Additionally, 10% of all ZUGU profits are donated to charitable causes, fueling initiatives that drive real change.

We've contributed 250 tablets to support technology-based learning, empowering students with the tools they need to succeed in an increasingly digital world. This support has led to significant outcomes, including a two to three-times average increase in household income for program graduates. More than 5,500 students have benefited from emotional well-being programs, helping them build resilience and thrive in challenging circumstances.
